The Federal Government of the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday announced the biggest shake-up in its history, appointing eight new ministers at a go.
The decision was announced by the Vice President and Prime Minister of the country, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
While the average age of the new ministers is 38, the youngest among them is Shamma Al Mazrui, who is just 22 years old.
She was appointed Minister of State for Youth Affairs and will also preside over the Youth National Council.
Sheikh Mohammed, who is also Emir of Dubai, said the new cabinet focuses on “future, youth, happiness, developing education and combating climate change”.
Al Mazrui has a Bachelor’s degree from New York University, Abu Dhabi and a Master’s from Oxford University.
The Prime Minister said Al Mazrui’s Youth National Council will “represent the aspirations and affairs of the youth before the Government”.
Adding that, “We will give the council prerogatives and we expect true achievements from her and her council.”
