Some high-flying students of God’s Grace International School, Calabar, Cross River State, have won accolades at the Chandelle US Mathematical Olympiad (CUMO) and Let It Shine Literacy Contest, attracting N2 million in prize money to the educational institution.
In a statement, the organizers said that one of the students, Deborah Edet emerged as the Gold Medal Winner in the Grade 1&2 CUMO category, showcasing her exceptional mathematical skills and dedication to learning.
Another student, Galeno Gerald secured the Silver Medal in the same category, a testament to his remarkable performance in the field of mathematics, while Stephen Odun and Dunamis Ayim Victor both made their mark by ranking among the top 10 in the Grade 1&2 CUMO, displaying their outstanding mathematical abilities.
Similarly, Grace Oko claimed the Silver Medal in the Grade 3&4 CUMO category, further demonstrating the school’s prowess in mathematics; Emole Prince E earned the Silver Medal in the Grade 5&6 CUMO, showcasing his mathematical aptitude; and Odigha Stephanie M’s exceptional performance placed her among the top 10 in the same category, reflecting her dedication to academic excellence.
In the Let It Shine Literacy Contest, Jedidah Chinemere Akah and Legendanerense Celeokpa Itachor both achieved recognition by ranking among the top 10 for Grade 7&8, which further demonstrate the school’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded scholars.
According to the organizers, these young scholars have made their school proud while also demonstrating their commitment to scholarly excellence.
“These students have not only brought honor to themselves but have also highlighted the commitment of God’s Grace Int School Calabar to nurturing bright minds and fostering academic excellence,” the statement read in part.
Meanwhile, the school’s principal was honored with the prestigious Chandelle Executive Award, the organizers said.
Accepting the award, the principal expressed immense pride in the students’ accomplishments while noting that these achievements not only reflect the students’ dedication but also underscore the school’s commitment to providing quality education.
“The recognition doesn’t stop here, as God’s Grace Int School Calabar was awarded the Certificate of Distinction, marking them as the Champions of the Olympics of Academics. Their exceptional performance, including securing the highest number of Gold medals, earned them the title of Chandelle School of the Year 2023.
