Former presidential aide, Dr. Doyin Okupe says he is confident that God will eventually use his son, Bolu, to change the gay community.
Recall that France-based Bolu, 27, publicly came out as gay in January.
“Yes, I’m Gay AF,” Bolu captioned a semi-clad photo of himself in rainbow-coloured shorts with a rainbow flag behind him on January 21.
The rainbow flag is a symbol of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer pride and LGBTQ social movements.
Speaking to Vanguard, Okupe said that he wept when he first knew about his son’s sexual orientation.
The former Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to President Goodluck Jonathan said he made a mistake sending his son to France.
However, he said he was confident in God’s plan to use Bolu to change the gay community.

“I made a greatest mistake to send him to France because that’s an extremely liberal society. So, the family had known that Bolu had that tendency. The day I knew, I wept. I have gone past that. We’re just praying for him but I also know that, God’s ways are not our ways, and He knows the beginning from the end. Mark my words, he (Bolu) is on sojourn to the gay community in order to be an instrument of God to that community eventually. That’s what going to happen by the grace of God,” Okupe said.
