House of representative member, Farouk Lawan has urged the Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU) to resume negotiations with the Federal Government so as to hasten resolutions on the prolonged labour crises in the education sector.
Lawan, a former Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Education made the appeal while speaking to newsmen on Thurdsday.
The lawmaker representing Kano state made the appeal to ASUU to resume negotiation with the government, noting that only dialogue could bring the best and lasting resolution to any kind of crisis.
“I am appealing to both sides to resume negotiations because, it is only through dialogue, it is only through consultations, that the issues can be resolved”, he said.
He also noted that similar incident had occurred in the past when government bowed to pressure and later backslid, hence he insisted that “dialogue remained the best way out of the present ASUU/FG impasse”.
It could be recalled that Lawan was suspended from the chairmanship of the education committee after his involvement in the alleged $620 fuel subsidy bribery scandal.
