Nigerians have taken to social media to react to comments by Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu that he was not trained as a magician, in reference to the lingering scarcity of petrol in the country.
The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, had in a Saturday statement also berated the minister for the comment.
Tinubu had said: “Kachikwu’s flippancy was out-of-line. He was basically telling Nigerians that they should be lucky that they are getting the inadequate supply they now suffer…”
Other Nigerians have also reacted to the comment, calling on the government to resolve the fuel scarcity crisis that is fast becoming a national problem.

Kachikwu doesn't need to be told that the masses are at the receiving end. Fuel aren't dispensed free, no subsidy on it,yet scarcity persist

While #kachikwu's reckless statements about the fuel scarcity may have been the type issued by PDP, Tinubu's stand against it makes me proud

kachikwu just said he is not a magician, the magician is the minister of petroleum which is @MBuhari . #askbuhari not kachikwu
— Hujai (@Oomedical) March 27, 2016

— Hujai (@Oomedical) March 27, 2016

My dear Kachikwu, now is the time to practicalise all you've learned from the multiple degrees you've acquired. End fuel scarcity forever.
— Imam Imam (@imamdimam) March 27, 2016
When fuel scarcity started, instead of Kachikwu to think how to supply d public with petroleum product, he turned himself to fuel attendant.

No 1 is sayin Buhari has no fault in this fuel scarcity. We are saying Kachikwu's attempt at joking sounded insensitive & worsened things

You need to see the queue at the NNPC filling station in Iwo Road this morning. The entire lane of the expressway is blocked because of it.
— OG. (@gboukzi) March 27, 2016
Nigerians are just tired of officials talking like they are doing us a favour. I've seen that with Senators, Garba and Kachikwu.
It is bad.

I donno what Tinubu's underlying motive was but I agree, Kachikwu's statement was rather reckless & untimely since its all about speculation

Kachikwu; Nigerians and blame game. Do we actually want to move forward in this country? We sound like Israelites in the wilderness
— JIBRIL TIJANI (@jbcul4ril) March 27, 2016
Why are we blaming Kachikwu for the scarcity? Is PMB not the Petroleum Minister? #JustAsking
