2 Min Read

A ghastly motor accident, along Zuba-Gwagwalada road in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), at the weekend left in its wake, the death of two persons while three others sustained serious injuries.

The tragedy struck on Saturday afternoon, when a NNPC truck with registration number BAM138XA smashed a Toyota carina II with registration number ASF32AT.

Speaking to People’s Daily at the scene of the incident in Zuba, the FCT sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Sunday Oghenekaro, said that the incident occurred when the said NNPC truck lost control and rammed into a ditch, killing two persons inside the Toyota carina II.

He warned the motorists against parking their vehicles indiscriminately along the road to avoid this kind of accident.

He said that the men of FRSC would not hesitate to continue to checkmate the activities of the road users (motorists) on the road for better driving.

Oghenekaro, however, thanked the Dantata construction company for using their vehicle to lift up the NNPC truck on the top of a Toyota carina II.

Also, the Zuba FRSC unit commander, Mr. Muta’a Chorrie, attributed the accident to lack of proper parking by the drives along the roadside.

Some of the sympathizers at the scene of the incident expressed dismay that the accident which happened in the afternoon the victims were not rescued until around 4:00pm in the evening.

It was learnt that the driver of the NNPC truck is cooling off in detention at Zuba police unit command.
