Sacked Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin’s wife, Kellie is reportedly filing for divorce.

She is said to be filing for the dissolution of their marriage in the wake of the killing of George Floyd, which has sparked nationwide protests that have turned violent in some cities.

Chauvin, who is white, was seen on camera kneeling on the black man’s neck until he died on Monday, stoking racial tensions and causing nationwide angst that led to the firing of the officer and three of his colleagues present at the scene.

Chauvin has also been charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter.

Kellie is reported to be filing for divorce over his role in the case.

A statement on behalf of her family read, “She is devastated by Mr. Floyd’s death.

“Her utmost sympathy lies with his family, his loved ones and with everyone who is grieving.

“She has filed for dissolution of her marriage.”

The couple does not have any children together and it remains unclear how long their marriage lasted.
