George Floyd: Blacks experience brutal injustices in America – Bill Gates

American billionaire and philanthropist, Bill Gates has joined millions in calling for an end to systemic racism against blacks in America.

Gates stated this in a series of tweets on Tuesday while reacting to nationwide protests occasioned by the killing of George Floyd.

The 46-year-old African-American man died on May 25 after a white police officer, Derek Chauvin, knelt on his knelt for more than eight minutes.

Since the incident, protests have been ongoing across the nation to demand an end to racial discrimination manifested through police brutality and others.

Writing in support of the protesters, Gates wrote, “The horrifying killings of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and far too many other Black people and the protests they sparked are shining a light on the brutal injustices that Black people experience every day in policing, criminal justice, education, health care, housing, the workplace and all other areas of their lives.

“l am committed to listening and learning more about systemic racism and what I can do with my actions and words to help create a more equal and just future.

“Black lives matter.”

Although Chauvin was initially charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter, the charge has since been upgraded to second-degree murder.

He was arraigned before Judge Jeannine Reding, who increased his bail from $500,00 to $1.25 million during his court hearing on Monday.
