Members of the House of Representatives have allegedly been promised $50,000 each to elect Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila as Speaker of the House.
This followed the circulation of an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card allegedly being distributed to members by supporters of the former Majority Leader of the House, who represents Surulere Constituency 1.
A leading journalist, Nicholas Ibekwe, shared photos of the card on Twitter on Tuesday, as members prepare to elect Hon. Yakubu Dogara’s replacement.
He captioned the photos: “Some lawmakers are alleging that this cards are being distributed to members of the House of Representatives to vote for the persons whose names appear on it.
“They claimed that they were promised that the cards will be credited with $50k each once their votes are confirmed.”

I cannot confirm what will be paid, or if anything will be paid at all. I am merely reporting what some of them have alleged.
