A gas leakage along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has sent fear down the spines of residents of Arepo, Magboro and neighbouring communities along the ever-busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The Wednesday morning incident was said to have been caused by Julius Berger workers that ruptured a gas pipeline while carrying out construction works in the Arepo area.
Witnesses said the incident occurred at 9:50 am in front of The Punch newspaper office located in the area.
However, reports reaching The Herald say that emergency services were contacted over the gas leakage incident.
“Our men are on ground and we have contacted Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and Nigeria Gas Company. The area is calm now,” Lagos State Acting Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye said.
