It was quite a busy week for Mr President as he continues to position the country on the right path. He knows he has a monumental task ahead of him and all he did during were aimed at developing the country in all ramifications.
THE HERALD brings you some of the activities.
During the week, he met with his immediate predecessor President Goodluck Jonathan at the Aso Rock for a very brief meeting behind closed doors. Details of the meeting remain within the four corners of the room. Though there are various reasons alluded to the visit, none is concrete.
President Buhari also met with the embattled Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki who came to submit the confirmed list of ministers. One major highlight of the meeting was the statement credited to Mr President that he is bound by the constitution to appoint 36 ministers but not 36 ministries. The nation awaits the swearing of the ministers and see those who will be without portfolios.
Also during the week, Mr President met with received a letter from the Burundian envoy and Chief of Staff to the President, General Major Ndayishimiye Evariste at the State House in Abuja. He also received a letter from the Equatorial Guinea minister of Foreign Affairs, International cooperation and Francophone Affairs, Mr Agapito Mba Mokuy.
President Buhari received Executive Members of Nigeria Institute of Town Planners in Statehouse as well. His Excellency also played host to the chairman of the United Nations commission on the limits of continental shelf, Dr Mohammed Ahmad.
Another high profile event was the presidential retreat with honourable ministers-designate held at the State House conference hall in preparation for their swearing in as ministers. He charged them to be agents of the change the All Progressives Congress promised Nigerians.
Today, he capped off the visitation by receiving the Julius Berger’s Board of Directors.
