Gabon’s National Autonomous and Permanent Electoral Commission (CENAP) announced that the country’s presidential elections would be held on Aug. 27, 2016.
Rene Ella, the Commission President said on Wednesday after a plenary session of the commission, in Libreville that the presidential elections would be held on Aug. 27, 2016.
He said the deadline for submission of nomination documents would be in July 12 at 6 p.m.
Ella said each candidate would have to pay a fee of 33,000 dollars which should be paid while submitting the nomination papers.
He said over 10 people have declared their candidature, including incumbent President Ali-Bongo Ondimba, Jean Ping, former African Union Commission Chairman, Guy Nzouba-Ndama, ex-Speaker of Parliament and ex-Prime Minister, Casimir Oye Mba.
