15 students have been arrested following the protest organised by students of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri over increase in school fees on the pretext of Free Wi-Fi connection which is yet to be seen.
The Imo state Police Public Relations Officer, Andrew Enwerem confirmed the arrest in the aftermath of the demonstration carried out by the students of the school which led to the blockage of the main entrance into the University.
The arrested students were nabbed for their alleged involvement in criminal activities during the protest staged against the school management on Friday.
The Police PRO told Punch, “I can confirm to you that about 15 students have been arrested in connection with attacks and looting of the Senate building, the ICT centre where computers and other information gadgets were stolen, as well as the attack on a bank on the campus.”
