The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA, Prof. Adebiyi Daramola, has been arrested for hitting a member of the Non-Academic staff union, at the main campus of the school this morning.
Aggrieved members of staff gathered together and protested in the school while they set up a bonfire within the campus.
It is alleged that Prof. Adebiyi Daramola, and the members of staff have been at loggerheads for some time, with some of them calling for his removal .
Some non-academic staff members of the institution were against the Vice-Chancellor over some irreconcilable issues.
The staff and FUTA clashed because the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) let the institution’s bursar, Emmanuel Oresegun off the hook after he was alleged to have mismanaged the institution’s funds.
