The Police Service Commission yesterday announced that it would be retiring 21 Assistant Inspector Generals of Police.
This is due to the wishes of new Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris who was said to have wanted the AIGs gone because they were senior to him.
Idris had earlier been reported to have written a letter to the presidency recommending the retirement of the AIGs as they were senior in rank to him and could be possible impediments to the new IGP.
The statement from the Police Service Commission said, “The Police Service Commission has approved the retirement of 21 Assistant Inspectors General of Police who were senior to the new acting Inspector General of Police, Idris Ibrahim, before his appointment.”
The officers were wished good luck in their future endeavors.
