A driver in Ondo state, Victor Ajisafe, has been stabbed to death by a Fulani man who accused the victim of “abusing” him.
The incident reportedly occurred as the Fulani man attempted to board a vehicle at a motor park at the Road Block area of Akure on Sunday.
According to The Punch, 30-year-old Ajisafe was killed after a disagreement instigated by one Usman Olaniyi, a friend of the unidentified Fulani man.
Olaniyi allegedly told the Fulani man in Hausa that Ajisafe was insulting him in Yoruba.
Anger by the supposed insult, the Fulani man was said to have chased Ajisafe around the motor park with a sharp knife until he stabbed him in the neck.
Witnesses around the scene of the incident reportedly said they thought it was all a joke until they saw the victim lying in a pool of blood.
The Fulani man was said to have immediately taken to his heels after the incident and remains at large.
The Punch quoted Ondo State Police Command spokesman, Femi Joseph as confirming the incident, adding that Olaniyi had been arrested for instigating the killing.
He also reportedly said that the police were on the trail of the Fulani man but will charge Olaniyi to court alone should they be unable to locate the suspect.
