As the fuel scarcity bites harder across the country, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu has assured Nigerians that there was no cause for alarm, saying the issue would be resolved shortly.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed made this known while addressing State House correspondents shortly after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday.
The Information Minister disclosed that though Kachikwu could not brief the press after the FEC meeting because of a pressing appointment, he (Kachikwu) assured the FEC that there was no cause for alarm over the fuel-scarcity issue.
Mohammed added that Kachikwu equally told the FEC that the nation has enough fuel to last till January 2018.
The FEC thereafter ordered the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to ensure the scarcity does not last beyond weekend, the Information Minister revealed.
The minister debunked any insinuation that the Federal Government was planning an increment in fuel pump price.
