The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has issued a warning against hoarding of petroleum products to oil marketers in the country.
The body says that law enforcement agencies, working with industry regulators, have been detailed to take appropriate measures against any defaulter.
This is coming as fuel scarcity bites harder across the country, despite multiple assurances by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu and the NNPC.
In the Monday statement signed by its Group General Manager, Public Affairs Division, Ndu Ughamadu, NNPC equally warned consumers against panic buying and stockpiling of petroleum products at home.
“NNPC wishes to state that relevant government agencies are in consultation with industry unions to arrive at an amicable resolution of issues over which there are threats of an industrial action,” the nation’s oil sector regulator said.
NNPC assured that the nation has enough petroleum products stored away in its strategic reserves across the country to ease the fuel scarcity problem.
