In a bid to bring an end to the lingering fuel scarcity crisis in the country, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has increased the number of petrol truck supplies to various Nigerian cities.
This was disclosed in a Tuesday statement signed by the Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, NNPC, Ndu Ughamadu.
He said the supplies were from the 750 million litres of the product that the corporation has in stock.
According to the statement, the PMS stock is also boosted by supplies from Port Harcourt Refinery as well as Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company which are autonomous business units of the corporation.
The statement said that instead of the usual 70 trucks, the Federal Capital Territory got 170 trucks.
NNPC stated that the steps taken and the suspension of the strike by Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) normalcy would soon be restored.
The corporation urged consumers not to engage in panic buying and threatened to prosecute any marketer caught hoarding the product.
