Fuel Scarcity: Commercial Drivers Threaten To Withdraw Services

1 Min Read

Vehicle operators in Imo State have threatened to withdraw their services as a result of the escalating price of premium motor spirit in the state, the Vanguard has reported.

The aggrieved drivers promised to carry out their resolution if the relevant government agencies fail to address the current scarcity and rising cost of the petroleum product.

One of the drivers was quoted to have said: “the ugly situation is getting out of hand and government appears not worried about the effect of the hardship on innocent citizens”.

The aggrieved driver further stated that N200 was the cheapest price for the petroleum product and this is too high for any commercial driver and his passengers.

“we have been condemned to pay whatever bill the marketers slam on us,” was a comment made by an Imo State business man, Rotarian Izuchukwu Ugochukwu.

The Citizens are likely going to face more severe economic pain as there does not seem to be an end in sight to the scarcity.
