The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has appointed a former factional Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Edison Ehie, as his Chief of Staff.

Secretary to the State Government, Tammy Danagogo announced this in a Sunday evening statement.

The statement read, “His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, the Governor of Rivers State, has approved the appointment of the underlisted as Chief of Staff and Special Adivers to the Rivers State Governor.

A. RT. HON. Ehie Edison – CHIEF OF STAFF GOVT. HOUSE.

B. SPECIAL ADVISERS

1. DR, Darlington Orji.

2. PRINCE Solomon Abel Eke.

3. BARR. AMINAYANASAM FIBERESIMA

4. ENGR. DEEYAH BARIENE.

5. Ohia Prince.

“The newly appointed Chief of Staff and Special Advisers alongside one guest each are expected to be seated at the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House, Monday, 29th January, 2024 at 10:30am, for the swearing- in ceremony by His Excellency, the Governor of Rivers State at 11:00am.”

The Herald recalls that on December 29, 2023, Ehie resigned as a member representing Ahoada East in the Rivers State House of Assembly and also the speaker of a group of lawmakers loyal to Fubara.

His resignation followed President Bola Tinubu’s intervention in the political crisis that plagued the state due to a supremacy battle between Fubara and his erstwhile godfather and current FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
