The Adamawa Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has expressed concern over the low patronage of the speed limit device by motorists in the state.
The State Sector Commander, Mr Hussaini Muhammed, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Yola that the development was affecting the effective usage of the device.
“The patronage level of using speed limit device in Adamawa by motorists is very low and discouraging.
“Also, we are finding it very difficult to enforce the use of the device due to unavailability caused by shortage in supply.
“Most of the vendors supplying the device are not residents of Adamawa, they usually come from Abuja, ” Muhammed said.
The commander said that some motorists had refused to purchase the device due to what they described as “high cost.’’
He appealed to the people of the state, who may be interested in venturing into sales of the device, to assist in making it available.
Muhammed also identified reckless riding by some tricycle operators, especially on some major roads, as one of the biggest challenges facing the command.( NAN)
