The Sango-Ota Unit Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has appealed to articulated truck owners to always ensure proper maintenance of their vehicles before putting them on the roads.

The Sango-Ota Unit Commander of FRSC, Mr Akeem Ganiyu, made the appeal on Wednesday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, (NAN) in Ota, Ogun.
Ganiyu, who was reacting to an accident involving a truck that lost control and crossed the road divider due to brake failure on Wednesday morning at the Toll Gate area, Ota.
He stressed the need for proper maintenance of articulated trucks because of the nature of loads they are involved in to avoid unnecessary road traffic crashes.
Ganiyu noted that some of the road traffic crashes that led to untimely death of innocent Nigerians could be traced to poor maintenance culture on the part of the truck owners.
“We are appealing to truck owners to always service their vehicles so that our roads can be safer for the motoring public,”he said.
The unit commander also enjoined the truck drivers to shun any act that could lead to loss of lives and ensure that they strictly adhere to all traffic rules and regulations.
He reiterated the corps’ commitment to public enlightenment and enforcement of traffic rules and regulations to prevent tragedy on the highways.
