The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has sanctioned a squadron of officers for assaulting a motorist in a video that went viral on social media.
The video featured a police officer on the hood of a red Camry speeding down an Abuja highway.
The officer was attempting to bring out his weapon from its holster when an FRSC van pulled near the vehicle and the officers within ordered the red Camry to park.

Upon stopping, several FRSC officers jumped down from the vehicle and started to vandalise the vehicle of the motorist.
As the driver of the vehicle, a young woman stepped out, visibly angry FRSC officers punctured the tyres of the vehicle and removed the number plate.
Another officer attempted to slap the woman before being held back by the individual filing the incident.

Releasing a statement of the matter a few hours later, the FRSC said it had initiated immediate sanctions on the patrol team involved in the incident.
Apparently the patrol team had been involved in enforcing the stay at home order of the Federal Government within the FCT.
The management of the Road Safety Corps said the actions of the officers involved was unprofessional and uncivil.
It said further that the action was against the core values and operational ethics of the government agency.

FRSC INITIATES IMMEDIATE SANCTIONS ON PATROL TEAM INVOLVED IN THE TRENDING VIDEO WITH A MOTORIST DURING ENFORCEMENT OF STAY AT HOME ORDER.
The attention of the Corps has been adequately drawn to a video currently dominating the social media sphere about a motorist who had an encounter with FRSC Personnel in the course of carrying out the ongoing enforcement of Presidential/National directive on ‘ Stay At Home’.
After a careful study and analysis of the video and what transpired in it, the Corps wishes to inform the public that the following proactive measures have been taken;
The Corps Marshal, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi has ordered the immediate withdrawal of the entire FRSC Team involved in the unprofessional and uncivil act.
The action of the Officers involved in that episode is completely contrary to the Core Values and Operational Ethics of the Corps and the Corps frowns at it.
The Corps Marshal has directed that the entire team be queried and sanctioned in accordance with FRSC relevant regulations on discipline.
The public is therefore called to remain calm & comply with all directives on stay at home & social distance & ensure that they cooperate with security operatives detailed to enforce the Presidential Orders
