Former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has advised fresh #EndSARS protesters to exercise caution, noting that he was privy to information that security operatives would be “merciless” in handling the protesters.
He gave the advice in a Monday tweet while reacting to reports that fresh #EndSARS protesters were set to hit the streets of some cities across the country.
The infamous Lekki Toll Gate was one of the places where the fresh protests were reportedly set to recommence.
Fani-Kayode’s advice came as President Muhammadu Buhari warned that any act of hooliganism hiding behind lawful and peaceful protests would be dealt with decisively to ensure peace and stability in the country.
A presidential statement quoted President Buhari as commending the Nigerian Armed Forces, which have been accused of killing peaceful protesters in October, “for their efforts at swiftly restoring law and order in various states during the large-scale criminality that ensued in the wake of the #ENDSARS protests”.
Fani-Kayode said, “Those that wish to come out to protest for #endSARs again need to be circumspect & VERY careful.
“I have it on good authority that this time around the security agencies will be merciless, ruthless and totally unrestrained.
“They will not hesitate to take life. I advise caution.”
