Foundation to partner govt, to ensure enrolment of more children in schools

4 Min Read

The African Heritage Charity Foundation, an NGO, says it will partner with the state and Federal Governments to ensure all Nigerian children are back to school.

Lady Chinor Emeka, founder of the organisation, made the pledge in Abuja on Wednesday at the unveiling of the foundation, with the theme: ” Networking and Dance for Peace through Education”.

She added that the foundation would partner with the state and Federal Government to ensure all Nigerian children, who are out of schools are back to school.

She said that crisis in the country was on the increase as a result of lack of moral values, which could be gotten from good educational background of students.

She said if all Nigerian children are educated there would be no room for chaos as experienced recently in some parts of the country.

Emeka advised the Federal Government to allocate more fund to education sector to ensure the resuscitation of community schools across the country.

He noted that the state of most community schools was worrisome as there were no checks and balances in the utilisation of the funds meant for the development of community schools.

According to her, those in government are not doing enough to see to it that our community schools are back to life.

” I advice the government to run a check, have a committed board that can go round and see what is happening in most of our communities.

“When money is disbursed to communities, they should see to it that things are done the right way.

” It is worrisome because most community schools are in a serious state of dilapidation.

” Education is the best thing that can happen to a child.

” The crisis we have in Nigeria is because some of the people we have in the country are not educated.

” But when you give a child the best basic education, which include moral values, we will have patriotic citizens who will lead this country to a greater height.

” Today, people that are most affected are students in communities. This is because where teachers are not educated and there are dilapidated schools’ structures, children tends to be at the receiving end.

” So it is a wake up call for the government to ensure that community schools are revived to have a better society.

According to Emeka, the foundation is piloting a project in Nigeria that will give aids both financial and material aids to community schools.

She added that it had visited schools in 10 states including Imo and Nasarawa state and schools in the Federal Capital Territory ( FCT).

She said the project would be an annual event as it would be a long term goal to ensure that every community school in the country benefit from the aid by the foundation.
