Ex-coach of Newcastle United youth team, George Ormond has been sentenced to 20 years imprisonment after he was found guilty by the Newcastle Crown Court after committing several offences within a 25-year timeline.
During his time as the coach of the Newcastle United youth team he used his position to sexually harass the club’s young players by touching them in an ungodly manner and making several sexuall advances towards the youngsters.
According to the court’s jury, George would sexually molest, indecently touch the players while massaging them and also tell them not to wear boxers under their shorts.
These series of sexual offences occurred between 1973 and 1998 and was not reported by players based on fear of being kicked out of the team.
The presiding Judge who sentenced him said;
“George is preoccupied with sex and used his position as a respected football coach to target boys and young men in his care”.
“Some victims you do not even remember – what was for you momentary sexual gratification was for your victims a lifetime of difficulty.”
George was convicted of 35 charges of indecent assault and would be in jail for 20 years.
