Former Big Brother Naija housemate Seyi Awolowo has revealed his intentions to delve into politics, citing societal expectations due to his lineage as a motivating factor.
Seyi, the 33-year-old grandson of the late Nigerian nationalist and statesman Chief Obafemi Awolowo, shared his thoughts on the prospect of a political career during an interview on Channels TV’s ‘The Morning Brief.’
As the 20th grandchild of Chief Awolowo, Seyi expressed his initial inclination towards enjoying a career in entertainment, wanting to be on the “backbone of entertainment.” However, given the current state of affairs in the country, he acknowledged the possibility of entering politics.
Seyi emphasized his desire to contribute positively to Nigeria, ensuring that his family experiences the richness of the nation as he did. He expressed a commitment to staying in Nigeria and providing his family with the opportunity to explore and enjoy the diversity of the country.
Reflecting on the expectations tied to being an Awolowo, Seyi mentioned the advice he received throughout his life about emulating the intellectual pursuits of his grandfather. While he had envisioned a path in entertainment, the prevailing circumstances in the country have sparked a reconsideration of his role, potentially leading him into the realm of politics.
