One-time badminton champion, Zulfadli Zulkiffli will no longer participate in badminton competitions after violating the sport’s code of conduct between 2013 to 2016.
In 2014, the Danish Broadcasting Corporation said two badminton players named Vittinghus and Astrup were approached by a “Malaysian man” through Facebook to “fix” some upcoming games.
Vittinghus rejected the offer quickly and reported the incident to the sport’s governing body for investigation.
The investigation proceedings led to Zulfadli and now he get a 20-year ban and $25,000 in fine.
The 25-year-old is said to have manipulated the results of four matches and violated 31 sport’s code of conduct which includes betting, wagering and match fixing.
