The Senate has threatened to suspend members of the House who have expressed intentions to testify against the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu in the ongoing forgery case.
The members of the Unity Forum who had earlier expressed their willingness to testify against the defendants in the ongoing case may soon be faced with suspension following a suggestion raised by Senator Dino Melaye during an executive session on Tuesday.
According to news agency, Premium Times, Dino Melaye representing Kogi west senatorial district maintained that the action of the senators willing to testify against the Senate president and his deputy was capable of inflicting irreparable damage to the sanctity and integrity of the National Assembly.
The Senators who opted to testify against the leadership of the house had from the onset kicked against the emergence of the senate president. They include; Kabiru Marafa, Suleiman Hunkuyi, Ahmed Lawan, Ajayi Borofice, Gbenga Ashafa and Abdullahi Gumel.
The suggestion which according to news source may be favoured by the committee was described by Dino Melaye as a move to instill discipline amongst senatrs and to punish the erring members who would rather do the bidding of the executive at the legislature’s expense.
