The police in Adamawa has arrested one Saidu Dan-Iya in Yola for allegedly slitting the throat of his daughter.
Dan-Iya was said to have attached the eight-year-old girl without any reason on Thursday.
The victim, who no has 50/50 survival chance, is currently receiving medical attention at the Accident and Emergency Care Unit of the Federal Medical Centre, Yola.
The victim’s distraught mother, who was at her daughter’s bedside, said she suspected that her husband’s often erratic behaviour might have been induced by the consumption of illicit drugs.

Northern City News reported that the suspect told the police that he became “unstable” soon after committing the act.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, said Dan-Iya was arrested shortly after he began slitting the victim’s throat.
According to him, the suspect will appear in court to face charges of manslaughter.
