Five people confirmed dead as fuel tanker explodes in Kogi

Emerging reports have claimed that about five people have been left dead in a tanker crash around the Felele axis, along the Abuja-Lokoja highway.

The Herald gathered the petrol laden tanker coming from the Lagos end, apparently with a failed brake, crashed into five other vehicles by the NNPC Mega Station in Felele, Lokoja, Kogi state. The incident has resulted in a protest by youths around the area.

Meanwhile, The Herald reported that the Anambra stàte government on Friday, October 31, announced the ban on movement of fuel tankers during the daytime.

The government stated that such vehicles can only move at night within the state. In a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Don Adinuba, the state government said such vehicles can only be allowed to move within the state from 8 p.m. to 5am.

The statement read: “Following the incessant collapse of trucks carrying petroleum products in Anambra State in recent times, including one which happened in Onitsha earlier today(Thursday), the Anambra State Government has decided to restrict the time which vehicles laden with petroleum products can move in the state.

“With effect from Saturday, November 2, 2019, such vehicles can be allowed to move within Anambra State from only 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
