First Nigerian Ebola case recorded in Lagos

The Nigerian Ministry of Health has identified the first victim of the Ebola Virus.

The doctor who is an official of the First Consultant Hospital in Obalende was on the medical team who treated Mr. Patrik Sawyer, the Liberian national who imported the virus to Nigeria after falling ill after arriving Nigeria, during a trip which began in the USA and saw Sawyer headed to an ECOWAS health conference in Calabar. He succumbed to the virus days after arriving Nigeria.

Nigeria’s Health minister, Onyebuchi Chukwu, did not name the doctor but he is among 7 other Nigerians quarantined by State and Federal health officials in Lagos.
