A renowned store in the Wuse 2 area of Abuja, Amigos Supermarket, was reportedly engulfed by fire on Tuesday according to multiple reports.
Although the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, the Public Relations Officer of Fire Service in the Federal Captial Territory, Mr. Jerry Timyh stated that the fire originated from the supermarket’s warehouse.
However, it was put before it got to the main store where all products for sale were displayed.
Jerry mentioned that the fire outbreak began around 1:30 pm but firefighters were only able to put it put around 7:30 pm.
Speaking on the damage caused by the fire, the PRO stated, “The fire incident led to the loss of many goods in the store but an exact estimate of how much is yet to be revealed.
“The fire did not affect the main supermarket as it was controlled to reduce wild spread.
“There was no casualty as shoppers and staff of the store were able to evacuate the store immediately the fire started.
