American rapper, Gucci Mane made The New York Times pages as a piece detailing the in-depth maturity of the rapper after his prison stint was published on the widely received medium.
Gucci Mane talking about the change which has now made him more responsible leading to less of his party lifestyle there said: “It’s been tough to be a Gucci fan”.
He continued: “It’s been tough to be a Gucci friend, a Gucci sibling, a Gucci girlfriend, or a Gucci partner. I done took people through a lot.”
Gucci detailing his past lifestyle and how much he has matured out of it said he had gotten into the habit of getting drunk all the time.
He added: “In hindsight I see it for what it was: I was a drug addict… I was naive to the fact that I was numb”.
Detailing his transition from the old life into the new one, Gucci Mane maintained that the prison shaped him up for change. He detailed how the prison system helped him withdraw from the bad habits he had acquired and accrued over the years.
He however likened the withdrawal symptoms of his old lifestyle to death,”Your body just craving lean bad. Stomach tore up, can’t think straight. Just mad at the world. Temper so short, so violent, so aggressive. So just rude and toxic”.
Gucci Mane proceeded to getting healthy and staying healthy after he beat the withdrawal symptoms.
Gucci Mane opened up about how healthy lifestyle led him into losing weight and getting more intellectual knowledge by reading books, he particularly noted the self-help books by Tony Robbins and Deepak Chopra.
“Anybody can do the stuff Gucci used to do,” he said.
He continued: “Can y’all copy living how I’m living? Can y’all copy getting y’all life together?”
