Final Year Student Killed By Gunman On Her Birthday

Miss Kelechi Ibeh a final-year Banking and Finance student at Imo State University has been killed by a gunman on Thursday on her birthday.

The victim also known as Kaycee, was supposed to graduate in August this year.

PUNCH sources gathered that the gunman stormed Ibeh’s 23rd birthday anniversary party, which was held at her residence along Douglas Road in Owerri and shot her.

A witness who wishes to remain anonymous said, “She was supposed to graduate this year, but someone shot her at her birthday party.”

The President of the National Association of Banking and Finance Students Association, IMSU chapter, Mr. Victor Adiele, verified the death of his course mate.

Adiele, in a statement, expressed bitterness and shock over her sudden demise.

“It was a black Thursday for the entire student body of Banking and Finance. With tears of agony and bitterness, the students of NABAFS mourn the sudden death of our beloved colleague and friend, Miss Kelechi Ibeh.

“She was to graduate by August 2018. She was shot dead on Thursday by an unknown gunman. That day happened to be her 23rd birthday anniversary. It was very painful that she was not able to celebrate her day to the end.”

The Public Relations Officer of the University, Nze Njoku-Obi, verified the incident.

Mr. Andrew Enwerem, the state Police Public Relations Officer, stated that the incident had not been reported to his office.
