World football governing body, FIFA, on Monday banned the President of the Thailand Football Association Worawi Makudi, for 90 days.
Makudi, 63, is a former member of the FIFA executive committee and has been FAT president since 2007.
A statement by FIFA said “the adjudicatory chamber of the ethics committee, chaired by Hans-Joachim Eckert, has suspended Worawi Makudi from all football activities at national and international level for 90 days.”
FIFA said the suspension of Makudi was “on the grounds that a breach of the code of ethics appears to have been committed and a decision on the main issue may not be taken early enough”.
Details of the case, which will soon be investigated formally, were not given.
Makudi was given a suspended prison sentence of one year and four months, after being found guilty of forgery in July.
Last week the ethics committee banned FIFA President, Joseph Blatter; General Secretary, Jerome Valcke; and Vice President and UEFA President, Michel Platini, for 90 days
