A sales agent of Fidelity Bank, identified as Kehinde Olumide Agbabiaka, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission for allegedly stealing N137m according to newsmen.
Report has it that EFCC arrested the suspect after a petition had been written against him by the bank’s Regional Security Officer and the Cluster Control and Compliance Manager.
The petition alleged that “the suspect suppressed, diverted and stole a total sum of N137,000,000 from personal and corporate accounts of a customer in Ibadan”, between January 2017 and July 2019.
According to the petition, the suspect had been collecting money from a customer under the guise of depositing same in the bank.
However, for so long, the suspect has been diverting the money into personal use including buying cars, building houses and also giving friendly loans to people.
The EFCC investigators have established a prima facie case of diversion and stealing against the suspect.
Nevertheless, Some of the items have been recovered and registered as exhibits and the suspect will be arraigned in court.
