Disclaimer: FG Is Not Buying Used Protective Gear From China -Lai Mohammed

2 Min Read

The Federal Government has debunked the allegations contained in an audio recording which is going round on Social Media.

According to the recording, the Federal Government planned to purchase used protective gear from China to use in Isolation facilities in the fight against Covid-19.

The recording also alleged that the country lacks funds to tackle the spread of the pandemic in Nigeria and that the Federal Government is waiting for funds from the World Health Organization, WHO, before springing into active action against coronavirus.

In response to these allegations, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has described them as false and provocative and should be discarded by Nigerians.

Lai Mohammed, who said this in a statement on Monday, disclosed that the federal government is not purchasing used protective gears from China, neither is the government waiting for money from WHO before enforcing drastic measures against coronavirus.

Lai Mohammed said;

“This is a most irresponsible, inaccurate and definitely orchestrated job by a charlatan and should be disregarded by all Nigerians.

“It is obvious that this hatchet job is aimed at distracting the hard-working health officials and misinforming Nigerians in order to create panic.

“The Federal Government will not be distracted in its efforts to fight this disease and keep Nigerians safe.

“Therefore, we urge all Nigerians to disregard the senseless audio,” he said.
