The President of the Progressive Shareholders Association (PSAN),Mr Boniface Okezie has urged the federal government to strengthen the operations of the financial sector because the sector is yet to recover from the 2008 global meltdown.
Okezie told News Agency of Nigeria that the sector might not record significant growth until it recovers from the 2008 financial crisis.
He said “Until the government streamlines the activities of the financial sector fully, the Nigerian economy may not record remarkable growth in the financial sector.”
He also noted that the financial market plays an integral role in the growth and development of any economy and should be given maximum attention
He urged the government to re-capitalise the banks to accommodate the laid-offs, adding that the recovery of banks would pump more money into the economy and ensure business growth.
