FG okays opening of markets for four hours daily in Lagos, Ogun, Abuja

The federal government has announced that all markets in Federal Capital Territory, Ogun, Lagos states will be allowed to open between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm daily.

The Herald gathered that the national co-ordinator of the presidential task force on COVID-19, Aliyu Sani, made this known on Wednesday, April 1.

Sani said: “For markets, only shops and stalls selling food and groceries shall be allowed to open to customers between the hours of 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.”

Earlier, The Herald reported that President Muhammadu Buhari had finally addressed Nigerians regarding the COVID-19 infection across the country.

President Buhari revealed the steps taken by his government in addressing the virus as well as preventing it’s spread across the country.

He noted that the Federal Government had began making preparations to contain the disease when WHO declared it a pandemic.

He noted that every resource owned by the Nigerian government has now been directed towards combating the spread of Coronavirus across the country.

President Buhari said further that since the first case of the virus was confirmed on February 27,2020, the cases of COVID-19 in the country has steadily risen to 97 with one recorded death.

The President also announced several measures in his speech which was televised live on NTA including the restriction of all local and international commercial and private flights.
