The former governor of Abia state, Dr. Orji Kalu yesterday had a 34 count amended charge brought against him.
The charge was presented by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and was numbered FHC/ABJ/CR/56/07.
This made it the third time the EFCC was amending the charges brought against Dr. Kalu.
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja was initially supposed to commence hearing on an amended 112-count charge by the EFCC against Dr. Kalu and two others on February 11, 2008.
Dr. Kalu had before now been battling a 107 count corruption case along with his company Slok Nigeria Limited.
His crimes were allegedly perpetrated while he was governor of Abia state from 1999-2007 and bordered on conspiracy, money laundering and illegal diversion of public funds to the tune of N5.6 billion.
