FG to construct N300m police transit camp in Bauchi – Dogara

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara

The Speaker of House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara, announced on Saturday that the Federal Government would constructed a Police transit camp worth N300 million in Bauchi South.

Dogara, who made the announcements in Dass, headquarters of Dass Local Government Area in Bauchi State, said the contract for the construction of 60kilometres road in the area would start soon.

The road is expected to traverse Tudun Wuis, Wandi, Baraza, Buru, Zundu-Lucshi, Baza and Dot.

He explained that the camp would be sited in Kutaru in Dass Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of the state.

 

 

According to him, the project is part of 2016 projects.

Dogara also disclosed that the Federal Government would construct an army barracks in the area, adding that this would be “captured in 2018 budget.’’

He noted that the camp would host security personnel that would be posted to the area to maintain the prevailing peace in the area which had witnessed crisis in the past.

Dogara praised the people of his constituency for their peaceful co-existence in spite of incessant crises that had engulfed the area for decades.

 

 

He urged them to sustain the tempo and to avoid future crisis, saying the area in the past was known as “national flashpoint.”

The speaker said that there were two other road projects being executed by the Federal Government in the area to ensure that the people reap the dividends of democracy.

He added that six other projects were being executed by the Federal Government in different parts of the Northern region, linking some parts of Bauchi State.

Also speaking, the Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, said that the road would open up rural communities to enable them transport their farm produce to towns and cities.

Fashola, represented by Mohammed Rufai, an official of the ministry, said that the road was among six others being constructed by the Federal Government within the region.

Dogara also used the occasion to distribute rice seedlings, fertiliser and herbicides to 330 selected men and women in Tafawa Balewa, Dass and Bogoro Local Governments in his constituency for modern pilot rice farming.

He also received over 10,000 members of Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), in Tafawa Balewa, Dass and Bogoro Local Governments who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). (NAN)
