The minister of state for labour and employment, Festus Keyamo, has reacted to the purported claim that he supported the rearrest of Convener of #Revolution Now Movement, Owoyele Sowore, by the Department of State Service (DSS).

The Herald gathered that a Twitter user, Ucheezonye @uche_ezeonye, had claimed that Keyamo said there was nothing bad with Sowore’s rearrest in a court room. Ezenonye also accused the human rights lawyer of the alleged support for the invasion of the court by the DSS operatives.

The Twitter user quoted Keyamo to have said: “There is Nothing constitutionally wrong with re-arresting Sowore in Court room, an offender can be captured anywhere. I think there is something wrong with Festus Keyamo. Even a blind man can see that Nigeria is heading to anarchy.”

Speaking about the allegation, Keyamo on Tuesday, December 10, denied supporting the re-arrest of Sowore in the court room, describing the news as fake.

According to him,  “Fake news with no link. The unfortunate ones have fallen for it. As usual, there would be no apologies to me. Life goes on. It’s freedom of speech!”

Meanwhile, The Herald reported that Sam Amuka, Publisher of the Vanguard, disclosed why he was part of a delegation that visited the DSS, to request for the release of Omoyele Sowore.

Amuka said they told the DSS that its action against Sowore was not good for the federal government. The Vanguard publisher made this known in Abuja at the presentation of The Big Interviews, a book by the former Managing Director of Sun, Mr. Eric Osagie.

He said: “The purpose of our visit was to tell the DSS that detaining Sowore was not good for the government. It was not to negotiate anything.”
