“Woe unto the children of light that secretly delight in darkness and that seek to thwart the counsel of God for their nation by joining hands with the sons of Boko and the daughters of Haram.”
The statement above was made by Femi Fani-Kayode in his article ‘A Word For Professor Yemi Osinbajo’. This uncouth statement showcases the attributes of some Nigerians who claim to be Christians, but sadly they are mere church goers.
The only way one can become a Christian is to basically behave like Christ. Thus the question is; “Would Christ have made such an unguarded statement about Muslims?” As the Presidential Election inches closer to us daily, some people have taken it upon themselves to lay claim as the spokespersons of the Christian faithful.
Among such people is Femi Fani-Kayode and Pastor Bosun Emmanuel, who have been making statements which are dangerous to the existence of the Nigerian nation and promoting hatred among the two most acceptable religions in the country all in the name of spreading the gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ and protecting Christianity in Nigeria.
Fani-Kayode who is a former minister and has performed many dirty jobs for former President Olusegun Obasanjo now claims to be a good Christian all in the name of promoting the candidacy of President Jonathan who has performed below average. Would Femi truthfully tell Nigerians, he never dipped his hands into the common wealth of the Nigerian Nation as a Minister? Would he tell himself and Nigerians the truth whether President Jonathan has kept his promise of good governance to Nigerians or not? Bosun Emmanuel’s case is more pathetic.
I avoided listening to his message which has been banned by Pastor E.A Adeboye, not until a female colleague played the audio message before me and others, so as to confuse us and make us hate, (not even to dislike) General Buhari. READ: “The Duty Of Government Is Not Religion”: What Buhari Said At Lagos Annual Thanksgiving Service As we listened to the hate message called sermon, a female colleague broke down into tears, shouting ‘Jesus’ multiple times when it got to where Bosun said Boko Haram went to a church and killed everyone therein. While she cried, I hugged her and asked her “Do you want to roast in hell with this preacher called Bosun?” The essence of Bosun’s message was clear.
First, it was to break the spirit of Christians and blind them from seeing the failure of the transformation agenda of the current President who also claims to be a Christian, yet the Association of Nigerian Witches and Wizards have endorsed President Jonathan as their candidate. Bosun Emmanuel who claims to be a Pastor does not see anything wrong in this, as it would have been proper for him to channel his missionary work towards this endorsement by condemning it. Secondly, Bosun’s message is more harmful than the artilleries of Boko Haram.
His message was all about promoting a one party state in Nigeria by claiming the merger between ACN, CPC and ANPP is an Islamic agenda. How would we deepen democracy in Nigeria if we only have the PDP occupying all the elective positions in the country? Lastly, Pastor Bosun isn’t concerned about the corrupt nature of the administration that gave him some stipends to earn during the National Conference.
Bosun needs to know that he cannot promote Christianity in politics if he does not condemn the negative actions of Christian politicians. In addition, as Yoruba men, Evangelist Femi and Pastor Bosun would have Muslims as family members, why would they want to create enemies for themselves and other Christians within their families and in extension the Nigerian nation at large? Presently, our great nation is sick and if the healing rod is in the hands of a good Muslim, it is better for Christians to support him, than support a Christian who doesn’t know where to locate the rod at all.
I implore all Nigerian Christians to remember God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, love, sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Finally, if Bosun and Femi want to protect Christianity in Nigeria and want to promote the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, it would be better for them to pick up their bibles and go to the busy Oshodi Market to do so.
