The Society of Women Accountants of Nigeria (SWAN), has frowned at the recurrent sexual harassment of female students in Nigerian universities.
Mrs Fausat Ajide, the National President of the association, made the statement on Thursday in Gwagwalada at a seminar it organised at the University of Abuja.
The seminar was titled “Sexual Harassment: The Law and You.’’
Ajide urged female students to cultivate the habit of dressing decently to avoid being harassed sexually by their male counterparts.
“Female students should dress properly to avoid being harassed by their male counterparts.
“The truth is that indecent dressing promotes sexual harassment and should be avoided at all cost,” she added.
The president also called on male and female students to live in peace and take their study seriously.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Michael Adikwu, commended the association for organising the seminar.
He said that the seminar would help to sensitise the student’s especially female students on the need to shun indecent dressing.
He said his administration would declare war against sexual harassment on campus. (NAN)
