An unusual outcry by one of the passengers aboard an Aero Contractors aircraft which was about to take-off from Lagos to Benin on Friday, cause a delay of about three hours.
A female passenger was said to have started screaming so loudly that she wanted to terminate her journey, thus making panic grip every one onboard.
According to an eye-witness account, the unnamed female passenger after boarding the flight screamed on top of her voice that she was no longer willing to travel with the plane.
She was said to have been initially ignored by members of cabin crew and passengers alike but her persistence led to suspicion and panic among the passengers that the situation had to be taken seriously.
The eye-witness revealed that the situation led to the delay of the aircraft for three hours so as to ensure proper checks of the entire plane while all the passengers disembarked.
The source narrated thus; “The situation was not funny at all. In fact, the woman was speaking in a language which no one understood. But I can tell you authoritatively that all the passengers have been taken to Benin with the same aircraft and they landed in the airport safely.
The witness also confirmed that all passengers were already set onboard “and the pilot was preparing to take off before the woman started the strange behavior”.
“At first, no one took her seriously, but when the shouting and soliloquy continued, the passengers became apprehensive and ordered the pilot to abort the flight.
“This was not the first time such an incident would be happening. In fact, it is common among first time travelers but no one knows the motive behind this act. However, I believe the security agents will do their work and reveal what led to the strange behavior”, the source noted.
It was learnt that nothing strange was discovered after about three hours re-screening of the passengers’ luggage and the entire plane but the alarmist was handed over to security agents by both Aero and Aviation Security, (AVSEC) of the Federal Airports authority of Nigeria, FAAN while the others continued the trip to Benin.
It can be recalled that the same Lagos-Benin route has been making various screaming headlines since barely a week ago when stowaway teenager, Daniel Ohikena emerged out of the wheel compartment of an Arik Aircraft at the Lagos Airport.
However, after the re-screening nothing mischievous was found aboard.
