An amputee who lost her leg after being crushed by a car has built herself a new prosthetic limb … out of LEGOs.
Christina Stephens was challenged by a joking pal to rebuild her lower leg and foot out of the plastic blocks after finding them in her St. Louis basement.

The ankle and foot tend to snap off the impractical concoction.
“I liked the idea, because I am very comfortable with my body and like encouraging others to be more comfortable with theirs,” the occupational therapist told ABC News.
Creating her toy leg, she filmed the two-day process on camera – and has now turned the resulting footage into a stunning six-minute time-lapse video.

The YouTube clip of the two-day building process has been viewed more than 400,000 times.
The clip, seen more than 400,000 times on YouTube, ends with her cautiously standing up on her multicolored new limb.
But she’s warned other amputees that her creation isn’t entirely practical and that the ankle and foot tend to snap off.

Stephens is an occupational therapist.
“Please don’t do this yourself. I don’t want you to fall and get hurt,” she said. “Sometimes you just need to be silly.”
