Federal Government Suspends Fuel Supply To Border Stations

Federal government has announced the suspension of diesel and petrol supply to filling stations within 20 kilometres radius to all Nigerian borders.

The government made the announcement on Thursday, November 7, through the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Hameed Ali. The authenticity of the memo was confirmed to Daily Sun by the Customs spokesman, Joseph Attah.

Attah said the directive has been given to all commands through Chidi A, Deputy Comptroller-General enforcement, inspection, and investigation Customs.

He said: The comptroller general of Customs has directed that henceforth no petroleum products no matter the tank size is permitted to be discharged in any filling station within 20 kilometers to the border.Consequently, you are to ensure strict and immediate compliance please,”

Earlier, The herald reported that President Muhammadu Buhari had approved the policy which extends the reopening of the Nigerian border till it achieves the aim with which it closed the border in the first place.

This was disclosed through an sms forwarded to Daily Sun by Joseph Attah, the Nigerian Custom Service Spokesman, which clarified the details of the memo which predicted January 31, 2020 as the possible date for border reopening.

According to him, the date only predicted the end of the phase of joint security operation called Ex Swift, and not the date for border reopening.
