Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to significantly boosting power generation in the country.
He said this as a guest of honour at the convocation ceremony of Redeemers University, Ede in Osun state on Tuesday.
According to Prof. Osinbajo, the country has recorded a marked progress in the power sector since the coming to power of the present administration in which he is second in command.
Furthermore, he stated that the government will generate 5,000 megawatts before the end of 2015 and another 1,000 before the end of March 2016.
Pressed about the composition of President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministerial list, the Vice President assured Nigerians that merit would be the first criterion in choosing those to form the cabinet before other any other consideration.
